Six Nigerians have been convicted by an Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over alleged funding of Boko Haram, investigations by Daily Trust reveals. Two of the convicts, Surajo Abubakar Muhammad and Saleh Yusuf Adamu were sentenced to life imprisonment while the remaining four, Ibrahim Ali Alhassan, AbdurRahman Ado Musa, Bashir Ali Yusuf and Muhammad Ibrahim Isa were handed ten-year imprisonment respectively. The convicts, according to a court judgment exclusively obtained by Daily Trust were tried and convicted in 2019. The court judgment also showed that between 2015 and 2016, the convicts were involved in different cash transfers allegedly in favour of Boko Haram to the tune of USD782, 000.00 even as those close to them said the transactions were for legitimate purposes. Zamfara governor says his government will keep negotiating with bandits By  Princess Eigbokhan Orih Governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle, has said that his administration will not abandon the peace dialogue with bandits in the state. Matawalle made the disclosure while receiving 26 girls who were released through negotiations after they were kidnapped by bandits in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State and brought to Zamfara. He maintained that dialogue with bandits in the state was still relevant. The governor said, “ This is a testimony to our vision for engaging the bandits in peace dialogue. APC candidate disqualified  for forgery In Bayelsa THE Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa presided over by Justice Jane Inyang has disqualified the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Bayelsa West senatorial bye-election, Mr Peremobowei Ebebi. The judgement which was delivered on a case of alleged forgery filed against Peremobowei Ebebi by Mr Richman Samuel, a former director of Domestic Matters, Government House, Yenagoa. The plaintiff contended that the academic credentials and voter card which the defendant submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the bye-election were forged documents. In her ruling, Justice Inyang upheld the plaintiff’s argument and declared the APC candidate ineligible to contest the bye-election. Home

NO MORE FOREIGN MEDICAL TRIPS FOR BUHARI......(NIGERIAN SENATE) The Nigerian Senate has told officials State House to stop the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), from going for foreign medical treatment. According to PUNCH NEWS, this was said in order to ensure the State House clinic becomes functional this year. The Senate Committee on Federal Character and Intergovernmental Affairs gave the warning when the State House Permanent Secretary, Tijani Umar, appeared before the panel to defend his 2021 budget estimates of N19.7bn out of which N1.3bn was proposed for the State House Clinic. The Chairman of the Senate panel, Senator Danjuma La’ah, said the committee would approve the budget for the State House Clinic but insisted that the President and other top officials of his government should no longer be flown abroad for medical treatment.
