THE NEW FACE OF LEADERSHIP IN ONDO STATE.

Last year, thousands of Nigerians especially the young people across all works of life. Came together using the social media platforms to consider a timely question in Nigeria political pandemic era and moment of dramatic change: What leadership do we need in our country? After critical analysis the youths gave their voice and support to the labour party presidential candidate. H.E Peter Obi.

2023 elections brought to light that this question must be one of the constant  thoughts on everyone's mind in our society today. 

A great philosopher— Sandeep Rai, Chief Operating Officer, Teach For India said, “We need leadership that has the courage to reimagine education, the compassion to deliver for children and teachers alike, and the consciousness of thought to remain clear and steadfast when needed. That leadership is arguably the single most important ingredient to not only rescue our current state of education, but to remake it into one that is transformative for future generations.”   

The educational system in Nigeria is gradually going into extinction due to the 122℅ increase in school fees in community schools and public higher institutions where the poor have their children. The question is, will a good leader take education away from the poor?leadership without courage and compassion to deliver good governance. The need for good leadership.

I am deeply convinced that what we need right now is daring leadership that can take us out of our comfort zone and make us believe in ourselves and our purpose. Without courage, leadership remains an untapped potential, and ideas do not stand a chance.  looking at the present situation in our country.

As a country, we still have a long way to go to address all the structural inequalities in our economy, educational system, health care, security force, infrastructure, job creation, policies etc. However, what I have learned is the tremendous power of diverse community leadership to positively and sustainably transform our systems, communities and country.

The opportunity to elect quality leadership in Ondo State  South West Nigeria is here again. A once in four years opportunity to elect leaders who understand leadership as selfless service to the people are hard to find this days, notwithstanding there are still few leaders like Peter Obi of the labour party.

The  first Commissioner for Environment in Ondo State. A former Ondo State Chairman of  Law Commission. A three times commissioner in Ondo State has been spotted to be one of those few leaders in Nigeria who understand leadership as serving the people. 

The former commissioner, spent six years as commissioner under Governor Olusegun  Mimiko,  Chairman of the state Law Commission, this great man was recommended  as a delegate of the South West to the 2014 National Conference. 

This unique personality is a human right activist, a front runner of the Afenefere. He is the Secretary General of Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere. A lawyer. He is known for always speaking and standing by the Truth.
