ONDO NDC CHAIRMAN PERETEI RALLIES STAKEHOLDERS ON GRASSROOTS MOBILISATION AHEAD OF 2027 POLLS 

Akure, Ondo State — September 25, 2026  

The Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ondo State, Hon. Kennedy Peretei, has called on party stakeholders, Local Government Chairmen, and candidates to intensify grassroots mobilisation and campaign efforts as preparations heighten for the 2027 general elections.  

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Akure, Peretei stressed the need for stronger coordination and a more visible party presence across all communities in the state. He urged party leaders and candidates to take the NDC’s message directly to the people by engaging both indigenous and non-indigenous communities, while reinforcing party structures at the local government and ward levels.  

“We cannot afford to wait. Our campaigns must move from the meeting rooms to the streets, markets, and villages. Every ward and polling unit must feel the presence of the NDC,” Peretei told attendees.  

Funding Challenges Amid High Expectations  

The Ondo NDC Chairman acknowledged concerns over inadequate funds to effectively drive campaign activities, noting that logistics, publicity, and community engagement require substantial financial backing.  

However, Peretei maintained that funding constraints should not dampen morale, citing what he described as widespread national support for the party’s presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. “Nigerians are yearning for a better Nigeria under the leadership of His Excellency Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. That alone should motivate us to push harder,” he said.  

He appealed to stakeholders, candidates, and supporters to embrace collective responsibility by contributing resources to strengthen the party’s campaign machinery across Ondo State.  

Stakeholders Urge Inclusivity, Commitment  

The meeting also featured strong contributions from party faithful. Pastor Tunde Akinola advised the NDC leadership to fully integrate non-indigenes into the party’s structure in Ondo State, stating that such inclusivity would help avoid lapses recorded during the 2023 elections.  

In a motivation-driven response, Princess R. Orih charged members to “up their game” and begin aggressive mobilisation without delay. She emphasized that early engagement would be critical to winning the trust of voters at the grassroots.  

Echoing her position, Engr. Orih Michael urged stakeholders and candidates to demonstrate greater commitment, stressing that the 2027 elections would be won through consistency, visibility, and direct voter contact. “We have the message and the candidates. What we need now is action. Let every member start campaigning and mobilising in their units today,” he said.  

Peretei concluded the meeting by calling for unity and coordination among party leaders, warning against complacency. He reiterated that sustained grassroots engagement remains the NDC’s strongest pathway to electoral success in 2027.
